Find an overview of all available shipping service providers under Settings > Shipping Service Providers. You can create shipping service providers manually or, if available, use an automatic connection. As soon as you select a manually created service provider for a shipment, the shipment number field is displayed. In this case, it is assumed that you create labels externally and transfer the shipment number. If you use one of our integrations, this field will not be displayed. Instead, you can create a label directly using the available button.
Add provider
To add a shipping service provider, click on the Add provider button in the settings.
You can then enter a title and description for the provider. The Tracking URL option is used to construct an individual URL for tracking a shipment. Here you can work with placeholders, e.g. to dynamically replace the tracking ID (or shipment number) in the URL. For example, the URL could look like this (e.g. for tracking via UPS)https://wwwapps.ups.com/tracking/tracking.cgi?tracknum={tracking_id}
The tracking information is a free text field. The note text is used to inform your customer about tracking (e.g. in emails). The wording could be as follows, for example: Your shipment was sent with {shipping_provider}. If you want to track this shipment, please use this parcel tracking number: {tracking_id}. Depending on the shipping option selected, the parcel tracking data may not be up to date at the time you receive this email.
Selection of the shipping service provider
For the smoothest possible processing of your shipment it is import to ensure that it is clear for each shopping cart or order which shipping service provider will be used. Shiptastic determines the shipping service provider based on the shipping method selected in the shopping cart (or stored for the order). If you use Shiptastic’s built-in shipping methods, the assignment works out of the box. The situation is different with shipping methods from other plugins or the shipping methods supplied by WooCommerce. Here you have to manually link the shipping service provider with the shipping method so that Shiptastic knows which provider is used for shipping.
If you only want to ship via one provider you can also configure a default shipping service provider in the settings under General.
